Balloon Enteroscopy

Balloon Enteroscopy Melbourne

Balloon enteroscopy is specialized use of longer endoscopes that require a system of balloons that will allow for deep intubation of the small intestine.

It is specifically used to examine the small intestine. It is done in hospitals that have these instruments and patients will need to be under anaesthesia for longer than the standard endoscopic procedures.

Patients will require this test if they have bleeding that needs control within the small bowel or they have polyps or growths seen on other scans such as Pillcam or CT. Patients may need this procedure depending if it is indicated by other tests.

If you have been recommended to have the procedure, please contact our rooms and our
specialists will review your case.
